The 2024 Local Government Election campaign is nearly done and dusted, and all results should be declared in coming days.

With the vote counting slowly coming to an end and the last day for postal votes to come in is Tuesday the 26th of March, ECQ will soon start declaring Divisions and the Elected Councillor for each division where the result is known and cannot be influenced/changed by votes yet to be received.

My division is one of these that is a forgone conclusion, and the result is known and cannot be changed by the number of outstanding votes. I am absolutely blown away by the outstanding backing that my communities have provided. Not only did I win every booth in the division, but I also gained votes in every booth, and increased the winning margins from the 2020 election results. This is an amazing position to be in and I am humbled by your support, friendship and help that has been shown.

As a Councillor, I find myself at times second guessing myself and wondering if I am doing what the communities want and if they think that I am doing a good enough job, this has all been confirmed by the way you all cast your votes, with indications being made loudly clear that you believe in me and what I stand for and am trying to achieve for the Division and the Region, Thank-you.

The Council make up will be very different with a combination of possibly (won’t know for sure until all divisions are declared) 5 incumbent Councillors, 5 new Councillors and a new Mayor. Council is always a consensus of 11 opinions making informed decisions for the betterment of the region and I can’t see that this should change, and as always, I will fight for what is best for my Division and the Region and continue to provide the needs and wants of my communities that I represent.

The Declaration of Office meeting is scheduled for next Thursday the 28th of March, where I will be re-sworn in as your Councillor for Division 1.

Thank you all again for giving me the opportunity to continue as your representative in Council and for allowing me the honor of being your Councillor for another 4 years. Your support, friendship and loyalty has been exceptional, and I am truly humbled by the way you all rallied for the cause and stepped up to ensure that I continue to be your Councillor, thank you all so very much.
