Can you believe that its nearly Christmas?

Where has the year gone?

It has been a time of upheaval and change in Council, well the last nearly two years have been, but the new structure is now in place and hopefully a new norm will soon emerge, and we will be able to get back to delivering for the community.

All this change in Council has seen a coming and going of staff in many areas of Council. This is really being felt in Parks and Gardens and the Waste Section. Residents may see some delays in service delivery in these areas over the Christmas period as we shuffle staff to ensure essential services are delivered. What this means to you is, if your wheelie bin isn’t emptied at its usual time, please leave it out until it is, this should be on your bin day but might be a little latter than usual, and bear with us if the grass is a little higher than normal, we will catch up as soon as we can.

Council is recruiting for additional staff in both these areas, so if you fancy yourself on a mower or can drive a garbage truck please apply.

All Council offices and depots will close 4:45pm Wednesday, 24th December 2025 and will reopen on Friday, 2nd January 2026. For any emergencies there will be staff on call, and they can be contacted by calling 1300 883 699.

The New Year’s Eve Fireworks are on again, tell your friends and family, grab your picnic blanket or chairs, and join us at ANZAC Park for the 2025 New Year's Eve fireworks. With live music, food stalls and two dazzling displays over the Burnett River (8 pm and midnight), this will be an event not to miss!

I would like to take this opportunity to wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and peace, health, happiness & prosperity in the coming New Year.

Wishing you all Merry Christmas & A Very Happy 2026.

Regards,

Jason
