Moore Park Beach Wetlands Bridge Update 17/4/26

Not good news, I am afraid, Tenders have been received for the replacement of this bridge and they have come in way above the allocated budgeted amount.

What will happen now, is staff will revisit the proposed design of the new bridge and review the scope of works to see where cutbacks can be made if possible. They are also looking at whether it is possible to rebuild the existing bridge as a more cost-effective option.

The problem with this is the current bridge doesn’t comply with current pedestrian access requirements, which are probably why the new bridge is so expensive to build?

Council will be presented with options and ways to move forward with this project in upcoming weeks.

I am pushing to have this project delivered asap and if the only option is to rebuild as per tenders received, I will fight for additional funding to ensure this vital link is restored.
