Booyan Road Upgrades Upgrade

Works continue on the upgrade of Booyan Rd Moore Park Beach. These works have been part of an ongoing program to improve the standard of Booyan Rd for many years. Initial works were undertaken a couple of years ago to upgrade a section of the road from Isaac Moore Dr, these works that are occurring now are part of a staged roll out to continue with the upgrade of Booyan Rd until it is all done (budget permitting).

Booyan Rd is a main collector road for the area and does receive a lot of traffic from local farms, businesses, and residents. The road was in need of upgrading and the works that are being undertaken will make it a lot safer. The upgrade of this road is in line with Councils plans to provide and all-weather access to Moore Park Beach and the surrounding areas. The next step will be to raise the culverts on Croome Creek crossing on Booyan Rd, to allow access when the State Government controlled Moore Park Rd floods at the “S” bends. Council have been advocating for the last 8 years that I have been a Councillor for the area, for State Government through the Department of Transport and Main Roads to have Moore Park Road upgraded to an all-weather standard, but to no avail, so if State once again brush aside their responsibilities to us, we will try to provide, when and where we can.

When funding is secured for the upgrade of the culverts on Booyan Rd these works will also include the sealing of Murdoch’s linking road to allow access in times that Moore Park Rd is flooded.

All these works have been planned to improve the accessibility and safety of residents and road users in this area. The works that are being undertaken and planned to be done in the future have nothing what’s so ever to do with the proposed mine in the area, that Council is 100% against.

Hope this clears up any confusion and rumours that are circulating.
