Valuer-General Queensland - Your 2024 new land valuation

Property owners in the Bundaberg Regional Council area will today be receiving new land valuations for their properties as issued by the State Valuer-General.

Nearly all property values across our region have seen increases, which is not surprising seeing the buoyant property market and recent prices of properties being sold. The increase in valuations is to be expected and does not necessarily mean that Rates will be increased within a similar percentage rate. When all categories of property have value increases, Council can adjust the rate in the dollar for General Rates to ensure that the majority of properties do not receive an excessive rate increase. This should be the case with this round of Valuation increases as they seem to be across the board, but some areas have had larger valuations due to location and recent sales in those areas.

One of the first jobs for Council, when we are sworn in (which now looks like next Thursday 4/4/24 due to ECQ not finishing the vote counts as yet due to the closeness and uncertainty of 2 divisions) will be to start work on the next budget, at which time we will be reviewing and setting the Rates for the 2024-2025 financial year.

I will be fighting to ensure that any General Rate increases are kept as low as possible and are evenly spread across all categories and areas.
